THE POLISH BAKERY

Friday

Forget jewellery and flowers, baked goods are the way to this girls heart! That's why I could not have said yes quick enough when The Polish Bakery* got in touch, wanting to send me some of their yummy breads and cakes to review!
g
I love bread - a loaf a day keeps the doctor away... right? But in all seriousness, bread is my definite guilty pleasure. I have been known to take a massive bite out of the French Stick as I have been walking home from the supermarket. It just smells so good!

The Polish Bakery very generously sent me some goody bags filled with treats galore, so naturally, I had to take a bite out of everything as soon as it arrived. The very second I stuck my nose in the bag, I was met with the smell of freshly baked bread. On further inspection, I also came across a massive Cheesecake, which in my opinion is the definition of heaven.

The bakery is the oldest Polish bakery in the UK, established in 2003 they pride themselves on their traditional sourdough recipes, and expect nothing less that high quality right from the ingredients they use down to the final product.

g
First up was the Chia Seed Loaf. Chia seeds are notoriously good for your health, so I didn't feel bad about munching on a slice of this for my mid-afternoon snack - I topped it with tomato, red onion, grated cheese, and black pepper - and it was incredibly filling. Each slice is bigger than a regular loaf slice so I found that I only needed one slice at a time. Awesome for me, as it made the loaf last twice as long.  I also found myself toasting this bread for my breakfast and it was absolutely delicious, perfectly crunchy and oozing with melted butter. Without a doubt, I will be buying this bread in the near future just so I can experience that toast sensation again.

g
Next up was the Rye Bread - I'll be honest with you, having never tried Rye Bread before, I was a little dubious about using this. However, after a quick google, I found out that Rye Bread is insanely good for you!  It is really good at stabilizing blood sugar, it is full of fibre, it is very low in gluten - so those that are sensitive to gluten can still enjoy this bread (in moderation), it tastes amazing with cheese, and most importantly it is high in Vitamin B, Iron and Magnesium, all things your body needs to regulate itself properly! **

The Rye Bread was really good with Hummus; the pieces were quite small compared to the Chia Loaf, but each piece was a lot denser in comparison too - so it was equally filling. I lightly toasted a couple of slices and cut them up into small strips before plunging it into the pot of hummus - a perfect juxtaposition of tastes!

Finally was the Checkerboard Cheesecake - if heaven exists it's in the form of a Cheesecake, specifically this Cheesecake. You know that episode of Friends where Rachel and Chandler keep eating all the Cheesecakes (from Mama's Little Bakery, Chicago Illinois?) Well that is what I wanted to do with this! It was perfectly cakey, yet had that wonderful Cheesecake texture. I begrudgingly shared it with my family - when all I wanted to do is lock myself in the kitchen and eat it all to my self. Cheesecake is the answer to all of life's problems. right? RIGHT?

I am interested to see if there are any variations of the Checkerboard Cheesecake as I have a sneaky suspicion that it would also taste amazing with strawberries or bananas... maybe I need to find a recipe online? I high;y doubt that my attempt would ever be as good as the one I was sent though - my mouth is watering just thinking about it (insert drooling face emoji here)

g
I honestly loved everything that I was sent, however, my personal favourite was definitely the Chia Seed Loaf - I could eat the entire thing in one sitting and not feel guilty!

Products from The Polish Bakery are available to buy in many supermarkets including Tesco, Asda, and Morrisons, and the prices are so cheap they might as well be giving them away!

BRB... Just running to Asda.

  5. Firstly, Kirstie, your photography is #goals! I love the sound of the rye bread, I don't think I've ever tried it either, but what a good idea to pair it with hummus, yummy. And I'm with you on the cheesecake, that looks absolutely 😋 As it happens, I'm going to Sainsbury's tomorrow so guess what's just gone on my shopping list, 😆 thank you for the recommendations! X
