Well for me it is anyway... sort of.
gAt the time of writing this, I have been a member of Odeon's Limitless club for just over a year, and in that time I have seen 45 films, If I were to have paid for each of these visits individually it would have cost me a whopping £675!
However, would I necessarily have seen all of these movies if I wasn't a Limitless member? Probably not. I went to see them because 'I had nothing to lose'. If I didn't like said movie, I could walk out and see a different one at no extra cost. On one day last summer, I saw five movies back to back. FIVE!
The Odeon Limitless card starts off at £205 p/y (excluding Central London) or £228 p/y (including Central London) However, if you're anything like me and can't bear to see that much money leave your account at one time, you can opt for the pay monthly option. which works out at £17.99 or £19.99 per month respectively.
As I live close to Central London, and a lot of the movies I like to see aren't often shown at my local Odeon, I opted for the £19.99 a month option. A standard cinema ticket in Greater London is between £13 -£15.00, so as long as I made sure to see at least two films a month, then I wouldn't lose any money. In fact, I would be saving money!
My total spend on Limitless to date is £280 but if we minus that from the amount I would have paid by paying individually I saved myself almost £400.00... That's £400 I have been able to spend on shoes!
Here's the thing though, yes I did save all that money, and it gave me a chance to see all those movies, but I think it took the fun out of going to the cinema... at least my local one anyway. I ended up going to see a lot of movies because 'why not', and whilst I did enjoy most of them, the actual act of going to my local Odeon became tedious. Plus my local Odeon is a bit shit anyway.

I want to keep my Limitless pass, but part of me thinks I should give it up, and only go to the cinema as and when I can afford it, as it might make it feel 'special' again. But I shouldn't give it up, just because of how one cinema made me feel, right? Should I just grin and bear the negative experiences? I mean, I am saving a lot of money, and I do get invited to view a handful of major releases before their actual release date.The only thing that is stopping me from swapping to a Cineworld Unlimited is that Central London cinemas are not included within their unlimited package.
Overall, yes I enjoyed it, and yes I got my moneys worth, but unless my local Odeon does something to fix the issues, then I will probably cancel it at the end of my next subscription year.
On a side note. I will mention that I do wish all cinemas would start issuing proper tickets again instead of those flimsy cheap feeling impersonal receipt tickets.
And now for the part, everyone loves, ooh yeah the trailers...

This is a great idea for people who use the cinema a lot! I don't really, the last film I saw was... Star Wars? Maybe. But our cinema is super cheap, only £4 a ticket so that's brilliant! Great write up though! :)

DeleteI'm so tempted to try this out for a month, it costs so much for a single ticket and I would love to be able have cinema trips! I think I would start watching Genres that I wouldn't usually watch this way too, loved hearing your thoughts! :)

I have seen so many movies that I would never usually watch. It has really opened my mind to other genres. Some of the films have been rather questionable, but others have been sososo good. Winchester and Call Me By Your Name were both up there!
DeleteI haven't been to the cinema in yearrrrs! I agree that having so much option takes away the 'specialness' of the act sometimes. Before Netflix I used to buy TV shows on iTunes and it was so expensive that I only got a few and watched them over and over. Now I never rewatch things! I'm interested on if you decide to renew!

iTunes was so expensive - it still is tbh. I am guilty of downloading loads of movies/tv shows when I was a teen as money was tight and Netflix didn't exist yet! I feel really bad about it now. I think that's why I don't mind spending a bit of money for the cinema experience. If you can find a lovely cinema, then the trip is definitely worth it.
DeleteI can't believe how many movies you've seen, I'm really impressed! I went to the cinema in November last year for the first time in 3.5 YEARS - and I haven't been back since. I love going but I find it so expensive, this card actually seems like a good incentive to get me out to the cinema more often. I hope your local Odeon buck up their ideas - or Cineworld starts including Central London!

It is such a good deal - A friend of mine has one too, so instead of wasting time wondering what we want to do of an evening, we can just see what movies are on. It gives us an excuse to see each other more often, too!
