Today I am welcoming Claire Ayres and Entrapped to Kirstiekinsblogs! Thank you to Jenny and Neverland Blog Tours for giving me the opportunity to break out of my reading habits, and read something new - I would never have read this on my own, but I am glad I did.

Scroll down to the end of this post for your chance to win a signed copy of Entrapped!

What is it about?
"Cellist, Luka, has moved to Bristol to start a new job and recover from the betrayal of finding his best friend and his girlfriend in bed together. He doesn’t plan on the emotional thunderstorm that meeting his next-door neighbour Jess causes.

Jess had everything, a man she loved, friends she adored and then the world crashed around her. Depression came from nowhere and slowly started ripping her life away. Now she lives a lonely, sad life but the music which she keeps hearing next door is waking her up and she doesn’t know why..."

I am going to be honest with you - I couldn't make it past the first chapter. This doesn't necessarily mean Entrapped is a bad book, it just means I personally couldn't get on with it. I was bothered by the writing style, it seemed too - for lack of a better word - basic. The language felt very on the nose and unimaginative. A lot of the description felt forced and read very much like a first draft.  I am not really in the position to discuss the plot as I never made it past the first chapter, but we did get to see a range of characters and their relationship to the protagonist - I am interested to see how the main character develops as it is clear from the beginning that she has some mental issues.

That being said, although I couldn't get on with the novel, I will urge you all to have a read and make your own decision. You can also have a look at some of the other stops on the blog tour to see what everyone else thinks!
