Is there anything in life better than a cheese toastie? Unless you answered Mac n' Cheese, then your answer should be no. This week I had the opportunity to work with Cheese Posties* a subscription box service that delivers specially crafted cheese toasties to your front door every Thursday.
Now I know you're most probably thinking, how does that work? and I was a little dubious too, but let me tell you, I was more than surprised and delighted with what came in the post.
Let's start with the website and ordering process. It was easy. You are given the option to select whether or not you would like a sweet or savoury sandwich, and whether or not you have any allergies. Then you pop in your details, grab a cushion, and sit by your front door waiting for the cheesy goodness to arrive.
The flavours are randomised, so you don't know what flavour you're going to get until you open it, but there are so many selections, you're unlikely to get the same one twice in a row. Some of the flavours that I am eager to try in the future include, Cheesy Garlic Bread, Italian Stallion, The Canadian, Taj Mahal, and Smokehouse, all of which sound absolutely amazing.
This weeks flavour was Ze Tasty German which consisted of Mustard, Sauerkraut, and Gruyere Cheese. As someone that has never had Sauerkraut before I was a little but unsure on whether or not I would enjoy it, but I did. I put my faith in the expert chefs of the Cheese Posties kitchen, and it was bloody amazing.
All of the ingredients came wrapped in airtight containers and were sent in a letterbox sized parcel so it fit perfectly through the door. The ingredients in all boxes are posted frozen so by the time they get to you, all you have to do is tear open the packaging, slide it in the toaster, and boom, you have the perfect cheese toastie. It even comes with a little toaster bag, so your toastie doesn't fall apart in the toaster.

ZE' TASTY GERMAN
As I already mentioned, I received all the ingredients to make Ze Tasty German, and tasty it definitely was.
The instructions are pretty self-explanatory; load the bread up with the filling, butter the outside, slide it in the toaster bag, and toast. However, I did have some issues with mine - the issue being I am very cack-handed and I couldn't get the sandwich into the bag; thankfully my mother saved the day and she held the bag open for me. Thanks, Rebecca, what would I do without your extra hands.
Wait for a few minutes (or more, depending on how dark/burnt you like your toast) and boom, your gooey, cheesy, orgasm inducing, toastie is ready for you to munch on.
The flavour was unparalleled to any other toastie I have had before, each mouthful was better than the last, I only wish that there was more mustard or less sauerkraut, as the sauerkraut was quite obnoxious - a little goes a long way.
I also wish it came with tea. You can't be tea and toast, especially now that it's winter and the sun sods off to the southern hemisphere at bloody three in the afternoon.
Note to self. In future scrub the grease off of the toaster before it's photoshoot debut.
A cheese Postie RRP's at £5.49 including postage and packaging, however, this drops down to £5.12 when prepaying for a minimum of eight boxes. But is worth your hard earned dough?
Yes. And no. Personally for me, paying more than £5.00 for a sandwich is a little bit too much, but if you take off the cost of delivery you're only looking at somewhere around the £3.00 mark. The quality is definitely up there, but paying so much for something I could just as easily make at home is a little off putting.
On the other hand, the guys behind Cheese posties have teamed up with Marys Meals, an association that is dedicated to providing hungry children with free school lunch; so for every toastie that is bought, a child gets a meal. It's a win-win situation really.
I will definitely order from them again in the future, there is no doubt about that;
This would make an amazing birthday present, or perhaps foregoing flowers and sending one to your partner when you balls something up and need to apologise - nothing shows you really are sorry more than cheese. You could even send one to say I love you, or even send one to your office and be the envy of the lunch room. The possibilities are endless.
